| A Beautiful Storm | |
| mp3 |
|
| Based on themes from MacDowell’s Piano Concerto No. 2 I’m standing on a beach at night and looking out onto the ocean as a storm is rolling in. The wind is in my hair, the clouds above me are swirling around a bright moon, waves are crashing upon the sand, and yet there is beautiful tranquility in it all. |

| Prelude in F | |
| mp3 |
|
| A song for the good things in life. A prelude to the future and the anticipation of a new day. | |
| Release - Zak Dewey, Drums | |
| mp3 |
|
| There have been many times when finally alone, I’ve dimmed the lights, sat at my piano and played just so I could hear the notes linger in the air of a quiet house. I would feel so connected with my instrument. It was as if nothing else existed, and the music being played from my fingers was my own voice being released from the instrument. | |
| You By My Side | |
| mp3 |
|
| This song was written for my husband - and for all of the long scenic drives we take in our car. One of our favorite escapes is the Washington peninsula – where the mountains literally rise up from the ocean’s edge. It is quite breathtaking and a very relaxing place to visit. To be there amidst all of the natural beauty and then look by my side to see my best friend next to me and holding my hand – I couldn’t possibly ask for anything more. | |
| Suite Dreams - Featuring Carolyn Southworth | |
| mp3 |
|
| Based on the Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major by J.S.Bach, and “Ave Maria” also by Bach The Bach Cello Suite is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful pieces written for a solo instrument. I was deeply inspired by the suite when writing this piece for piano, strings, and solo violin. It was so fun to record this with both my mother and I on violin. |

| Will's Song | |
| mp3 |
|
| Originally performed at our wedding reception, this one was written for Will, my eternal love and soulmate. I wanted to convey not only the tender feelings of falling in love, but the fun and excitement of it as well. | |
| Old Movie Romance | |
| mp3 |
|
| My first composition – written by candlelight only a few days before Christmas one year. Inspired after attending a holiday concert, I came home that evening and sat down at the piano with feelings of romance and inspiration. I envisioned an old fashioned romance set in a black and white movie, perhaps with a little suspense and longing, but with a happy ending. | |

A woman told me an experience where she took a plane trip and found her seat assigned next to a man whom appeared to be quite filthy and lowly. Disgusted by his smell and appearance, she publicly humiliated him during the flight - drawing much attention to herself and the man. The man kept his head down underneath a tattered and torn hat. When the flight attendants came around to deliver drinks, she looked over at the man as he raised his head for the first time. Her heart sank as she saw his face, so weak and lifeless; his eyes filled with tears. His arms shook as he tried to find the strength to take the offered beverage. Remembering her cruel actions towards the man, she frantically rallied the people around her to give the man money and food – she stuffed his pockets with all that he could carry. She cared for him for the remainder of the flight. When they arrived at their destination, she waited outside the gate as everyone exited the plane, to make sure that the man got to where he needed to go. But he never got off the plane. She waited, and waited, and asked around, and then checked the baggage claim, checked with the security. The man was not to be found. I was deeply touched by this woman’s story. This is a song for the angels in our lives, for people who teach us humility and charity. It is a song for the pure in heart. |

| The Red Aspens | |
| mp3 |
|
| Written after taking a drive through the Wasatch Mountains in Utah during the month of September when all of the leaves were changing color. I was particularly taken with the red aspens. | |
| Somewhere | |
| mp3 |
|
| ©Leonard Bernstein Music Publishing Co Based on Leonard Bernstein’s “Somewhere” from West Side Story My piano arrangement of the popular song from the musical West Side Story, sung between two seperated lovers. The night they vow to run away together, they sing this song. Lyrics: “There’s a place for us, a time and place for us. Hold my hand and we’re half way there. Hold my hand and I’ll take you there. Somehow, someday, somewhere!”. |

| The Tempest | |
| mp3 |
|
| Written for orchestra and two pianos, this piece is of a more thematic nature. A tempest - often referring to a violent windstorm. In this case, a sea tempest. | |
| Sospiro | |
| mp3 |
|
| Based on Liszt’s Etude No. 39 in D Flat Major (“Un Sospiro”) My favorite piece to end performances with, and I thought it fitting to end the CD with it. The Italian translation for “sospiro” is a “sigh”. |
